DESCRIPTION:OLIVEBRIDGE, NY – An annual Catskills attraction for maple lovers of all ages, The Ashokan Center’s Maple Fest will be held from 10:00am – 4:00pm on Sunday, March 22, 2020, at 477 Beaverkill Road, Olivebridge, NY 12461.\nChef Bill Warnes will serve fresh pancakes hot off the griddle, with a gluten-free option available. Real maple syrup, freshly tapped from Ashokan Center’s own sugar maple trees and boiled down in the on-site Sugar Shack, will be served as a breakfast topping and will also be available for purchase alongside decadent, maple-themed treats like maple-bacon dark chocolate. \nActivities of the day will include tree-tapping and syrup-making demonstrations, Sugar Shack tours, guided hikes to Ashokan’s 1885 covered bridge, hands-on blacksmithing workshops, and three live bands from 11:00am – 3:00pm.\nThe Ashokan Center is a 385-acre nature preserve listed on the national registry of historic places. Campus buildings were constructed for efficient energy use and receive 100% of their electricity from a site-wide solar installation. 98% of Ashokan’s food waste is composted as a result of the joint effort between kitchen staff and visiting groups. The Ashokan Center has committed to a zero carbon footprint by 2030.\nAdmission to Maple Fest is $5 for adults, youth age 12 and under are free. Pancake breakfast is $8 per person. Tickets will be sold at the door. Volunteer opportunities are available.
