DESCRIPTION:Hudson River Valley Architecture,\nLandscape Paintings, Early Photography,\nEnslavement and African American History are the subjects of this\nSeven-Part 2022 Winter-Spring Lecture Series\nheld via Zoom by the\nColumbia County Historical Society\nEarly & Diverse New York Subjects are themes found in the Columbia County Historical Society’s forthcoming Seven-Part 2022 Winter-Spring Lecture Series.\n\nCCHS will host Historians and Genealogists, Art Historians, Photographers, and authors during its 2022 Winter Lecture Series held via Zoom over seven Saturdays beginning 29 January through 21 May. Speakers include: Victoria Jimpson-Fludd and Lisa Fludd-Smith-Genealogists; Pieter Estersohn, author/photographer; David Sokosh, photographer; Lisa Weilbacker, Curator; Gayle Skluzacek, art historian and appraiser; Dr. Gary Darden, historian; and Dr. Andrea Mosterman, historian and author.\n\nThese lectures will explore the rich and diverse history, culture and heritage of Columbia County and New York’s Hudson Valley, from the mouth of the Hudson River through all of the original New Netherlands.\n\nTickets are strictly limited and are now available to purchase online ($15 for non-members; $ 10 members) https://www.cchsny.org/winter-lectures-2022\n\nABOUT THE SERIES\nSecond in the Series–\nOn Saturday 19th February, Pieter Estersohn will discuss his photographs featuring the scenic stretch of estates along the Hudson that offer some of the finest examples of American architecture and landscape design. Thirty-five featured homes were designed for the Livingston Family in a range of styles by notable architects Stanford White, A. J. Davis, Calvert Vaux, Warren and Wetmore, and others.\n\nIncluded are Dutch colonial cottages and grand Gothic Revival, Federal, Georgian, and Beaux-Arts residences. Constructed on land owned by the Livingston family, who settled in the area in the late seventeenth century\n\nABOUT THE SPEAKER:\nPieter Estersohn has worked on over 60 books on historic preservation, architecture, and decoration and has worked for every major shelter magazine.
