SUMMARY:Columbia County Recovery Kitchen is Moving to the Churchtown Firehouse
DESCRIPTION:Columbia County Recovery Kitchen (CCRK) is moving its meal preparation base to the Churchtown Firehouse Community Support Center Inc.\n“We needed a bigger kitchen with sufficient storage,” says Carole Clark, co-founder of CCRK.  “In just four years, we have grown from delivering 200 meals a week to more than 1600.  The opportunity to partner with Churchtown allows us to grow and provide meals to hungry Columbia County residents.”\nWith just four paid employees, two chefs, a bookkeeper and an executive director, a large group of volunteers deliver, pack, and work in the kitchen.  Behind the scenes, others work on grant applications, fund raising and communications.  “We are always in need of volunteers,” says Clark, “ and with this new facility our ability to continue to grow is assured.”\nAfter 89 years, members of the Churchtown Fire Company No 1 have established a new tax-except corporation called “Churchtown Firehouse Community Support Center Inc.” This new corporation will continue to provide non-firefighting services to the community.  It is dedicated to charitable and educational purposes, specifically to offer a multi-functional community center for cultural, educational, human services and recreational programs.  Additionally, it will serve as a Red Cross Disaster or Emergency shelter for the public and other tax-exempt charitable organizations in the Town of Claverack and surrounding communities.\nWhile CCRK will occupy the facility during the week, the Churchtown Firehouse Community Center, Inc. will continue to make the facility available to the community for fundraising events, organizational meetings, community events, private functions and any other activities that promote benefiting our community and the people of Columbia County.\nPress Contact: Jolene Race — jolene@columbiacountykitchen.org ( mailto:jolene@columbiacountykitchen.org )\n
