10th Annual Play for P.I.N.K. Millbrook Luncheon raises nearly $500k for Breast Cancer Research
Guests gathered on the afternoon of Friday, July 11, at Mashomack Preserve Club in Pine Plains, NY, to celebrate a milestone in grassroots philanthropy – the 10th annual Play for P.I.N.K. Millbrook Luncheon for the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.
This year’s luncheon raised nearly $500,000 and was co-chaired by Julia Descoteaux, Beth Ledy, Alison Marsal, Joyce Mykoniatis, and Stephania Quartararo.
The highlight of the afternoon was a moving program featuring William Lauder, chair, board of directors at the Estee Lauder Companies; Dr. Cliff Hudis, CEO, American Society of Clinical Oncology; Dr. Lisa Curcio, oncologist, Nuvance Health; Donna McKay, president & CEO, Breast Cancer Research Foundation; and Cathy Franklin, honoree, co-founder of Hillrock Estate Distillery, and senior global real estate advisor, the Corcoran Group.
This year’s event also honored Cathy Franklin for her outstanding philanthropic leadership and contributions to breast cancer research and awareness.
Celebrating 10 years of the Millbrook luncheon
For a decade, the Millbrook luncheon has stood as a testament to the power of collective action. With over $1.3 million raised locally, the event continues to fuel the mission of Play for P.I.N.K., which has raised more than $85 million nationwide – all of which goes directly to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation to fund life-saving research.
“At its heart, this luncheon is about education; providing information about the latest research findings, and why research is the key to eradicating this insidious disease,” said co-chair Beth Ledy. “Each year, we come together not only to raise funds, but to raise hope for a future without breast cancer.”
About Play for P.I.N.K.
Play for P.I.N.K. (Prevention, Immediate Diagnosis, New Technology, Knowledge) is a grassroots organization dedicated to accelerating progress in breast cancer research. All funds raised go directly to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation, with a focus on advancing detection, treatment, and survivorship.
Play for P.I.N.K. supports thousands of volunteers nationwide as they raise funds for research through sporting and lifestyle events. “A better understanding of breast cancer not only leads to better outcomes for people who have it; it unlocks the secrets of other diseases as well, with some targeted therapies for breast cancer having treatment applications against other types of cancer, too,” Play for P.I.N.K. writes on its website.
“Reaching the 10th year in Millbrook is a powerful reminder of what’s possible when a community comes together with purpose,” said Eunice Liriano, managing director of Play for P.I.N.K.
“The generosity and passion behind this event is extraordinary. Every dollar raised helps fuel groundbreaking research at the Breast Cancer Research Foundation, bringing us closer to a world without breast cancer. We are deeply grateful to our volunteers, donors, and supporters who make this event—and our mission—possible.”
