All about medical aesthetics at Tyte Medispa in Millbrook

By Published On: September 3rd, 2024

Tyte Medispa founder, Lily Al-Nemri, is considered one of the pioneers of aesthetic medicine in the Hudson Valley. She opened her first medical spa location in Hopewell Junction in 2004, and since then, has rebranded, expanded service offerings, and moved her businesses to Millbrook, NY. This October, Lily will be celebrating 20 years of bringing medical aesthetics and wellness services to the Hudson Valley.

What exactly is a medispa? Generally speaking, a medispa is a combination of a traditional day spa and a medical clinic, which typically operates under the supervision of at least one medical professional.

Tyte Medispa blends cosmetic dermatology and spa services. Lily states, “Our goal at Tyte Medispa is to make cosmetic and wellness services accessible to everyone – every complexion, age, gender, and body size – while also providing state-of-the-art treatments in a rejuvenating spa setting.”

The main priority at Tyte is offering a personalized treatment plan for each client at the highest level of expertise, care, and professionalism. The team includes three physicians: Dr. Peter Bogdan, who has served as the medical director and cosmetic injector for 18 years at Lily’s medical spas; Dr. Monica Grover, who provides cosmetic injectables and medical weight loss treatments; and Dr. Norma Rae-Layne, who offers medical counseling for the Emsella treatments, which address pelvic floor rehabilitation, urinary incontinence, and sexual wellness.

The team at Tyte Medispa is a close-knit group, with Lily’s daughters, Joy and Jamie, actively involved in the operations along with licensed aestheticians, cosmetologists, massage therapists, nail technicians, and certified yoga and Pilates instructors.

All kinds of services

Tyte Medispa provides a full-range of advanced services that range from simple to high-tech including massages, facials, body contouring, laser treatments, microneedling, hair restoration, cosmeceuticals, and other wellness and spa services.

Service prices vary, but Tyte Medispa provides free consultations on all of its services, which is the best way to explore your treatment options and develop an individualized plan. Tyte runs monthly specials and memberships in addition to promotional events throughout the year that spotlight various services and products.

Tyte is also currently the only local provider of EmFace – a device that delivers a non-invasive facelift through radiofrequency energy and facial-induced muscle contractions. It works to diminish wrinkles, tone facial muscles, and provide an overall lifted appearance. It also stimulates collagen and elastin production, which creates the appearance of more youthful skin. The treatment is only 20 minutes and is safe for all skin types, all year round.

Tyte Medispa also provides Em-Sculpt Neo, the first FDA-approved device for simultaneous fat elimination, muscle building, and skin tightening with zero downtime. So how does it work? EmSculpt Neo’s radiofrequency heating prepares muscles for exposure to stress, which is similar to what a warm-up does prior to a workout. In less than four minutes, fat cells are permanently damaged and slowly removed from the body, and over the 30-minute treatment, the treated areas will undergo muscle simulation that provides the equivalent of 24,000 crunches or squats.

Core-to-floor therapy is a popular service combination at Tyte Medispa. It combines the Emsculpt Neo treatment on the abdomen with the Emsella – a treatment that enhances intimate wellness and provides relief from urinary incontinence. While Kegel exercises can help tighten the pelvic muscles, Emsella uses electromagnetic energy to stimulate the entire pelvic floor, which strengthens weakened pelvic muscles much faster and more effectively than Kegels alone. One 28-minute Emsella treatment provides the equivalence of 12,000 Kegels – all while fully clothed.

Sounds intimidating, huh? That’s why comfort and education are incredibly important pillars of what they do at Tyte.

“Safety is our top priority,” Lily states. “Not only do we carefully curate our technologies, but each of our services are performed by licensed professionals who are incredibly attentive to detail and work from the heart.”

Empowerment through education

When you enter the medispa as a client, the first thing Lily and her staff do is ensure that you feel welcome and safe. “We lead with hospitality, kindness, and sincerity,” said Lily. “We aim to empower our clients with the education they need to make informed decisions about the treatments they do with us so that they can look and feel their best selves. Our main goal is to help our clients foster healthy relationships with their bodies from the inside out.”

Training and education are also core principles of the practice. Lily noted that sometimes, it’s not just one treatment, but a series of treatments that all work together to address a client’s concerns.

“We respect the client’s needs and what they came in for. It all starts with educating them about what we can offer and helping them understand what the process will look like,” Lily said.

Sometimes, a client wants a certain treatment that may not be suitable or the best option for their skin type, health history, or daily activities, in which case Lily works with them to create a personalized plan that is the best fit to meet their concerns.

Medical-grade skincare: A game changer in skin health

Tyte Medispa also carries a variety of physician-approved skincare brands, including SkinBetter Science, Alastin, and EltaMD, among others. What’s the difference between medical-grade skincare and other brands, you ask? The main distinction is that medical-grade skincare is physician endorsed and scientifically backed by dozens of peer-reviewed studies.

They achieve visibly noticeable results and their proprietary formulations are clinically proven to penetrate all the way down to the dermis – much deeper than traditional skincare brands that absorb more superficially – allowing the ingredients to do their ‘magic’ where necessary.

Not only that, but these award-winning skincare products are engineered to work with the skin to help clear out old collagen and elastin proteins that have been damaged by sun exposure and aging while supporting the skin’s natural ability to produce new collagen and elastin.

Why is it so important to have a good skincare routine and use quality products? A good skincare routine can result in better skin health by preventing skin damage and other problems. Quality skincare products tend to have better ingredients and years of research behind them. These factors often result in more effective products that deliver the results you’re looking for. While good skincare helps restore skin health and complement in-office cosmetic treatments, healthy lifestyle choices (proper water intake, avoiding smoking, adequate exercise, and stress management) are also key factors in achieving desired results.

“An intentional and consistent skincare routine tailored to your needs can truly help you on your journey to clearer, healthier, and more youthful-looking skin,” Joy said. “Your skin is your largest organ and the one most exposed to the elements. You owe it to yourself to take good care of it.”

Bryte Nailspa

The latest addition to the Tyte brand is Bryte Nailspa, located right down the street from the medispa on Franklin Avenue.

The idea for Bryte emerged from a need that Lily saw in the community. “I knew there was a need. There isn’t a nail salon nearby, and it’s nice to have something that’s accessible right in the village that you don’t have to travel to,” Lily noted.

Bryte Nailspa offers Dazzle Dry nail polish, a vegan and cruelty-free option designed to promote healthier nails. It is free from harmful chemicals, animal byproducts, and animal testing. The polish lasts between seven and 14 days chip-free on hands and one month or longer on toes. In addition to Dazzle Dry, Bryte also offers regular nail polish, gel, and acrylic options for manicures and pedicures.

A space for community

The facilities at the medispa include a studio where they offer yoga and Pilates classes, an art gallery that showcases the work of local artists, and an events venue.

“Tyte is a serene space where you can host lectures, fundraisers, bridal showers, and other events. The possibilities are endless, and I’m excited to bring these opportunities to life,” Lily said. By expanding their offerings, they aim to make Tyte Medispa a community venue in Millbrook and the broader Hudson Valley region.

In tying in the wellness theme, they’re also hoping to open the floor to a variety of professionals who have experience in different kinds of therapies, gut health and microbiomes, Eastern medicine specialists, and more. Most of all, they’re looking forward to continuing to evolve and bring the community more quality services.

For Lily, the most rewarding aspect of her work extends beyond the aesthetic and wellness benefits she brings to her clients. “My clients are truly my friends,” she said, reflecting on the many long-term relationships she’s built since opening her first spa in 2004. “These connections are deeply meaningful to me and I’m grateful that I have the opportunity to provide life-changing services to my community for nearly two decades.”
