Founded in 1871, Dutchess County SPCA is one of the oldest SPCAs in the country.  It is a no-kill shelter, and the only animal welfare organization in Dutchess County chartered to enforce humane law.  Dutchess County SPCA is not a governmental agency, nor is it affiliated with the ASPCA.  It is an independent charity, funded almost entirely by private donations.

Blitzen

Meet Blitzen! A striking 6-year-old male German Shepherd with a heart full of love. This charming canine found his way to our shelter due to his previous owner’s housing predicaments. Blitzen forms a deep, trusting bond once comfortable, becoming an incredibly devoted companion.

Blitzen revels in the great outdoors, whether he’s accompanying you on tranquil walks or simply relaxing in your presence. Playful at heart, he cherishes interactive moments, although he prefers to be the only pet, craving undivided attention. Blitzen wants to be in a home where lengthy alone time is minimal.

Ideal adopters are those offering patience, guidance, and a pet-free environment. Ready for unwavering loyalty? Blitzen awaits, eager to embark on a loving, permanent journey together.
