Building connections and emphasizing individualized service at Mahar Real Estate

By Published On: December 30th, 2024

Daniel “Dan” Mahar launched Mahar Real Estate in August 2024 out of a desire to “shake things up.”

“I saw and still see gaps in the way clients were being treated and how agents worked together,” explained Mahar. “I wanted to build something better – a brokerage focused on relationships, innovation, and results.”

Dan hasn’t always worked in real estate. He received his BA in philosophy from Pace University in Westchester, which he says taught him to, “think deeply and pivot when necessary.” From there, he spent ten years working as a stand-up comedian. He performed at venues across the country, “sharpening” his wit and learning how to connect with people from all walks of life.

Then, in 2017, he transitioned to a senior fitness specialist, where he focused primarily on helping clients over the age of 65 stay active. He continued working in this position whilst working in real estate, but he quickly discovered that being a real estate broker was his “true calling.”

Personalized service

Located in the City Centre in Hudson, NY, Mahar Real Estate services the Hudson Valley and Capital Region, from Poughkeepsie and Millbrook, to Millerton, and all the way up to Saratoga. Since launching, Mahar Real Estate has already grown to include five agents, and Dan anticipates the company growing to eight agents by the end of January.

“That’s not just growth – it’s momentum,” he shares.

In addition to all of the things you’d expect from a real estate firm, Mahar Real Estate also offers their individually-tailored “Mahar Marketing Method” marketing strategies, expert negotiations, and one-on-one service. Their cutting-edge marketing features professional photography, cinematic videography, on-foot marketing, virtual tours, and strategic online campaigns, as well as coordinated brokers and public open houses. All of which, Dan says, “ensures your property gets unparalleled exposure.”

“Mahar Real Estate combines the boutique care of a small agency with the innovation of a powerhouse brokerage,” he explains. “Unlike brokerages with sprawling teams, we deliver a one-on-one focus. When you hire Mahar, you get your agent, fully dedicated to you. No handoffs, no middlemen – just unmatched service and expertise.”

Dan also notes that Mahar Real Estate’s agents are independent, focused, and extremely well versed with the local area. “Add to that our innovative marketing, deep local knowledge, and commitment to delivering record-breaking results, and the difference is clear,” he says. “We believe in Grant Cardone’s idea that the major difference between a ‘contact’ and a ‘contract’ is the ‘r,’ and that stands for relationship. Relationships are at the heart of everything we do.”

Indeed, that’s where Dan finds the most value in his work. While helping someone find their dream home or sell a cherished property at top dollar is thrilling, he notes that it’s not just about the translation, but instead, about the relationships that they build at Mahar Real Estate. “It’s about making a lasting impact on people’s lives and building life-long friendships.”

Progressing in 2025

For Mahar Real Estate, 2025 is all about growth. Dan says that Mahar Real Estate’s plan is to expand “Always, in all ways” – a quote from Ryan Serhant, the CEO of New York City-based brokerage SERHANT.

Dan’s personal goal is for people to recognize Mahar Real Estate by the logo – a dark green capital M. “I’ve had other brokers come to me and say, ‘you’re the “M” guy!’” he laughs. “I’ve labeled this goal, ‘Who I “M.”’ It’s all about the recognition and awareness that I’d like to achieve. The logo should speak for class, unity, and respect in a transaction.”

Also in 2025, Mahar Real Estate will be expanding into Massachusetts, effectively broadening their reach while “staying true” to their core values.

“Long-term, I see Mahar Real Estate as the name that people trust for modern, relationship-driven real estate, not just in New York, but across multiple states in the region. The sky’s the limit.” •
