Cozy dining and comfort food at the Amenia Steak House

If you’re ever traveling east on Route 44 towards Amenia, NY, then chances are you’ve passed the Amenia Steak House. Located at the corner of Route 44 and Route 83, about one mile before the scenic overlook, the Amenia Steak House offers American cuisine in a cozy, atmospheric setting.

This is one of my favorite restaurants. The food is always good, the staff is super friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere is warm and inviting. It’s been the chosen spot for our friend dinners over the past year or so, and we’ve yet to have anything bad to say. We went on a Monday night a few weeks ago and the place was surprisingly pretty busy for a Monday! Nonetheless, we were immediately seated in a booth and brought menus.

Our picks from the menu

For drinks, we all ended up ordering the tipsy dolphin, which if I remember correctly, is a combination of rum, raspberry vodka, soda, and pink lemonade. It was delicious and went down entirely too easily.

For appetizers, we started with the fried mozzarella curds, which are always perfectly fried and crunchy on the outside. One of my friends ordered boneless chicken wings in buffalo sauce as well. I’m not a big fan of buffalo, so I didn’t have any, but she said they were delicious.

For our meals, I ordered the chicken chipotle panini, which is one of my favorites to get there because I always have enough leftovers to bring for lunch to work the following day. I subbed tater tots for the traditional french fries, and I was not disappointed! They were perfectly crispy on the outside and just the right amount of chewy on the inside. Super yum.

Both of my friends ordered the penne vodka with chicken and said that it was the perfect combo of creamy and slightly spicy.

Enough room for one more course

Of course, we couldn’t say no to desserts. The Amenia Steak House has a pretty lengthy dessert menu, too, with a variety of cheesecakes, cakes, and ice creams to choose from. We all got something different from that menu; I chose the chocolate toffee mousse cake, while my friends opted for the mint grasshopper ice cream and the layered chocolate cake. We were all more than happy with our desserts, which was evident by all of the empty plates at our table!

I would highly recommend visiting the Amenia Steak House if you haven’t already.

The Amenia Steak House is open seven days a week from 12-9pm. Call (845) 789-1520 to make a reservation.
