Red Hook Restaurant Round-Up

By Published On: June 27th, 2025

If you stand in the center of Red Hook, NY, and look in any direction, you’ll see an abundance of dining options just a stone’s throw away. Fascinated by the different cuisines available in this bustling, little town, we decided to do a round-up of just some of the fantastic restaurants in Red Hook.

BLISS Juice Bar

BLISS was started by owners Annie Sullivan and Michael Kelly in June of 2020. Annie and Michael’s original mission was to provide healthy and delicious products for the Red Hook community, and five years later, they have more than accomplished that feat. BLISS is a 100% organic, cold-pressed juice, smoothie, and smoothie bowl bar in the heart of Red Hook. All products are made with whole, organic and raw, vegan ingredients. You’ll never find processed additives or pasteurization in any of their goods. Since opening, BLISS has expanded into a bigger space to accommodate the growing demand for their business, extended their menu to include daily specials, more juices, and breakfast and lunch goodies.

Brigitte Bistro

With over 15 years of culinary expertise, Chef Randi has honed his culinary skills in some of the most prestigious kitchens in the world. Now at the helm of Brigitte Bistro, Chef Randi brings his wealth of culinary experience to provide a taste of French cuisine to Red Hook. “Each dish he prepares is a testament to his dedication to the craft and his desire to delight every guest who walks through our doors,” the Brigitte Bistro’s website states. The menu changes with the seasons, and for the summer menu, Brigitte Bistro is offering delights including duck leg confit, served with mustard sauce and topped with arugula salad, and loup de mer Méditerranée, a seared branzino served with confit fennel, zucchini, red pepper coulis, black olives, and caper sauce vierge.

The Grove Restaurant & Bar at Red Hook Golf Club

The Grove was born out of a love of good food, community, and the laid-back beauty of the Hudson Valley. The goal was to create a place that felt welcoming and familiar – where people could gather after a round of golf, enjoy a great meal with family, or grab a cocktail with friends. Since opening its doors in April of 2024, the ethos of The Grove has been about bringing people together in a space that feels like home.

Owner Kyleigh Zengen describes the menu at The Grove as a mix of elevated comfort food and daily specials, fresh salads, sandwiches, and seasonally changing entrees from their CIA-trained chef. The Grove offers a full bar and beverage cart service on the golf course, and outdoor dining is a big part of the restaurant’s experience during the warmer months. They also offer catering for private events and host “special happenings” throughout the year – from themed dinners to live music and holiday specials.

“Our mission is simple: serve great food with genuine hospitality in a space that brings people together,” Kyleigh shares. “We want every guest – whether it’s the first time or their hundredth – to feel relaxed, cared for, and excited to come back. We’re all about consistency, comfort, and community.”

The Grove is always evolving based on what their customers are excited about. In the near future, Kyleigh says they’re seeking to expand their catering services, host more events, and continue to find ways to “surprise and delight” our guests – whether it’s through new menu items, creative collaborations, or seasonal offerings.

“Without a doubt, the most rewarding part is seeing people return again and again – celebrating milestones, bringing friends, and making The Grove part of their routines. Watching families gather, golfers unwind, and locals discover us for the first time – it’s incredibly fulfilling to know we’ve built something that people love and rely on,” Kyleigh shares. “Whether our guests come in for a drink after a round, dinner and a night out, or Sunday brunch with the family, they are a part of what makes The Grove special.”

Hana Sushi

Founded in 2001 by Etsuo and Kae Iwamoto, Hana Sushi has become a beloved destination for those seeking an authentic Japanese culinary experience in the heart of the Hudson Valley.

Both Etsuo and Kae were born and raised in Japan, but their journey together began in the United States, where they married in 1993. After 40 years in sushi preparation, Etsuo opened Hana Sushi to bring the spirit and flavor of traditional Japanese sushi to Red Hook.

“I learned sushi from Take Matsuda, who trained at the traditional Okei Sushi in Japan,” says Etsuo. “I called him the ‘Sushi King’ and respected him deeply. He always said, ‘The heart is more important than anything else. Make each piece of sushi with love and sincerity for the customers.’ I carry that philosophy with me every day.”

Kae, formerly a full-time Japanese teacher in both public and private schools, chose to retire in 2021 to join Etsuo in the restaurant. She now brings her warmth and dedication to Hana Sushi, working side by side with her husband.

Carrying on the family tradition, their youngest son, Alon, recently completed official training at the Tokyo Sushi Academy in Japan. His skills and passion now enhance the offerings at Hana Sushi, making it a true family endeavor.

Hana Sushi features a wide variety of fresh sushi, sashimi, and rolls, as well as appetizers such as tempura, sunomono, tuna tataki, gyoza, edamame, hijiki, and seaweed salad. Guests can also enjoy a selection of Japanese beer and premium sake.

Looking ahead, Etsuo and Kae remain committed to serving the Red Hook community and the broader Mid-Hudson Valley with the same love and sincerity that inspired them from the beginning.

“We love the Hudson Valley – the peaceful environment, the clear air, and the kindness of the people,” says Kae. “We’re so grateful to have met so many wonderful individuals through our restaurant. It has truly been a blessing.”

Savona’s Trattoria & Bar

Dubbed “authentic Italian cuisine the way Nonna used to make it,” Savona’s is a go-to for classic Italian fare. With four locations – Red Hook, Kingston, Hudson, and Poughkeepsie – Savona’s was founded by Emanuele Savona, who emigrated to New York from Sicily in 1958. Today, Savona’s is run by Emanuele’s sons, Stephen and Daniel, who note that their parents taught them to run the restaurant as though it was their home. “The front door to the restaurant is the front door to our house – someone comes over, you greet them at the door, make them feel comfortable, sit them down, and get them something to drink and eat. Make sure they have enough to leave with a full stomach, walk them to the door, and wish them well until the next time you see them,” they shared.

Fan favorites on the menu include the salmon limoncello, served with a limoncello cream sauce over creamy spinach risotto; Nonna’s famous Sunday sauce; and the flatbreads. Savona’s has a rotating, seasonal menu for cocktails and specials and typically features special menus for holidays and events.
