A Saturday afternoon in Kent, CT – the place that has something for everyone!

By Published On: December 27th, 2024

Shopping, snacking, browsing, and reading at the House of Books, Terston, 45 On Main, and Cozzy’s on Main.

Calling book lovers, boutique enthusiasts, snack scouters, gift getters, stocking stuffers, and pizza praisers of all ages! Spending your Saturday afternoon in Kent means finding something for everyone.

House of Books

I’m a book lover, but why do I love House of Books in particular? There’s a book and a price point for everyone. Whoever organized this place truly has a touch of magic–the selection is far and wide! House of Books carries the following genres: Fiction, History, Science & Nature, Young Adult, Middle Grade (8-12), Picture Books (2-8), Fantasy, Poetry, and others. For you food lovers, check out the Martha Stewart cookbook. For Taylor Swift lovers, her books made the cut too! Prices range from $4 products to $50+. House of Books carries Christmas cards, greeting cards, stuffed animals, journals, trinkets, and the infamous “Wall of Pens”.

Terston

Listen up boutique fans! I had the honor of speaking with the owner of Terston, Ms. Geraldine, and she explained that her heart is in providing for the local Kent community. I found gifts and goodies for everyone here. Terston carries Christmas socks, denim satchels, cookbooks, cookware, Hanukkah decor, Irish sweaters (you’ll never get cold), wall clocks, makeup, imported clothing, rocks glasses, and more! One of my favorite items is the mini vases with a matte finish. The best part? There is a price point for everyone here so no one walks out disappointed! Geraldine has a nose for the right scent—the store’s smell welcomed me with open arms. Check out the KOBO soy candles, they have an even burn!

45 on Main – Coffee, Chocolate, Candy, Bakery, and Gifts

So not your average coffee shop. From top to bottom 45 on Main is decked out in Christmas decorations. They’ve got snowflakes hanging from the ceiling, a cozy fire with a mantle, mini Christmas trees, Mr. Grinch, and my favorite: the notorious mini electric train set. Out front are Kent t shirts for sale and gifts surrounding the front porch. This place has chocolates, Pez dispensers, comical stickers, stocking stuffers, a fully stocked deli, fresh baked goods, key chains, “Pickle In-A Pouch”, Baby Bottle Pops, and an assortment of teas. Price points are welcoming for everyone, and I’ve never seen a candy selection like this. Need to stuff someone’s stocking? Head over to 45 on Main! Grab some lunch or a coffee and snuggle up with a book or laugh with friends and family in their seating section!

Cozzy’s on Main

Pop in to grab a pizza by the slice at Cozzy’s on Main! Or, if you’re not in the mood for pizza, get your hands on a calzone, some appetizers, salads, subs, burgers, pasta dishes, and wraps! The owner of Cozzy’s is the child of a pizzeria owner, and the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree because he, “tried a few different careers, but [he] always ended up in the food industry.” This is the perfect stop to pull over, grab a soda, laugh with friends, and walk out with a happy belly. This menu is so diverse with options for literally everyone.

Grabbing a bite to eat here doesn’t take hours out of your day, either.

From picking out my next read at the House of Books to buying the cutest gifts at Terston, falling in love with the Christmas village at 45 on Main, and finishing off with a slice of pizza at Cozzy’s on Main, there is something for everyone to enjoy their Saturday afternoon in Kent. This little Connecticut hallmark town is calling your name. Cheers!
