Summer, summer, summer. I love it! Here are two wonderful wines for a super summery weekend. They’re both from Juggernaut, and not only are they delicious, but they have great labels!! One is a Sauvignon Blanc made from grapes grown in Marlborough, New Zealand, so think crisp, bright, punchy but balanced, with classic NZ SauvBlanc notes of grapefruit and citrus, with a passionfruit finish. No wonder an Orca is beautifully rendered on the label. Or as they put it, “Killer whales are known to be fiercely intelligent, developing strategies to master their environment and often working as a group to achieve their goals…the perfect alpha predators for our newest wine.” Right alongside the SauvBlanc is their Chardonnay, sporting a Great White shark on the label. The fruit is grown on the Sonoma coast, and the wine is vibrant, deep, nuanced, with classic Chard notes of apple, pear, and vanilla bean. As for the Great White? They say, “Great White sharks are known to frequent the cold and turbulent waters north of San Francisco along the Sonoma Coast. In this region, vineyards fight fog, mist, and cooler summer temperatures. These factors allow acidity to be preserved in the grapes…when it came to choosing an alpha predator for Juggernaut’s Chardonnay, there was no better fit for our ‘great white.'”
