Hello, October! For this first weekend of the month, I’m thinking a red wine that’s super-smooth, with big fruit notes and a plump nose, lots to keep me coming back, but not too much to challenge me. I’m thinking a nice Merlot. I’m going for the J Lohr Los Osos. J Lohr has called Paso Robles home since the 1970s, and their trusty vineyards turn out consistently beautiful wines. This one wafts out of the glass with notes of plum and cassis and a hint of cinnamon. On the palate, the dark fruit notes are complemented by some pomegranate and just the right touch of cocoa. Like watching a tree’s leaves turn different shades of red, this is a wine to savor.
