I finally tried a wine that I harbored a prejudice toward, and I have to confess to becoming a fan. And just in time for the holiday that’s just around the corner, Halloween. The wine is Finca Barbera’s Time Waits for No One. It’s a Spanish wine from Jumilla, made with 100% organically grown Monastrell. Why was I ever prejudiced about this wine? It has a distinctive skull and crossbones image on the label that I just didn’t care for. Well, I’m still not crazy about the label, but I am a convert to the wine. It’s deep, delicious, and smooth, full of big red fruit with lots of body and a long finish. When I went to the winemaker’s website, I found this statement, which helps me appreciate the wine even more: “How often do you talk about the concept of Time in a conversation? ‘We should spend more time together,’ ‘Live the moment to the fullest…’ The name of this wine came to us in one of those random conversations.” This weekend – whenever! – enjoy the wine and the concept: Time Waits for No One.
