Here we are in DRY JANUARY. If you feel you need to spend less time with wine this month, I totally respect that. January is a great time to have healthy “reset” goals. January is a month for hopes and promises of change. It’s also long, cold, gray, and, well, drearily dull. It begs for a break, and wine can be that break. Luckily there are some “lifestyle” wines that are lower in alcohol (and also sugar and carbs) that can help get you through and maybe make the month a little more manageable. Cupcake Lighthearted wines are quite nice, and a favorite is the Cupcake Lighthearted Pinot Noir. Pinot is a light-bodied red that is very food friendly. This one comes in at 8% alcohol by volume (most wine is 12-14%); less than a gram of sugar, and 80 calories for a 5-ounce glass. A friend describes her January as “damp.” That sounds like a sad word, too. How about “light makes right”?
