While I enjoy making recommendations of wine (obviously!!), I also really enjoy getting recommendations. This one was shared with me recently, and it’s a winner, so I’m passing it along. It’s the Angeline Reserve Pinot Noir. Pinot is a great wine for warm days and cool nights, as it’s light-bodied and pairs seamlessly with everything from charcuterie to fish. This one, made with fruit from select vineyard blocks in Mendocino and Sonoma counties, as well as the Central Coast, is an example of a California Pinot Noir that, to my palate, doesn’t overdo it. The wine is delicate and nuanced, with the classic red fruit notes that sing out in a good Pinot Noir, but also a bright acidity that keeps the wine from venturing into Merlot land (by this I mean bigger and deeper than what I like in a Pinot Noir). The person who recommended this wine typically prefers Pinots from Oregon, like I do, so this gem from California – at a great price – is a delicious discovery.  Cheers!
