Founded in 1871, Dutchess County SPCA is one of the oldest SPCAs in the country.  It is a no-kill shelter, and the only animal welfare organization in Dutchess County chartered to enforce humane law.  Dutchess County SPCA is not a governmental agency, nor is it affiliated with the ASPCA.  It is an independent charity, funded almost entirely by private donations.

Meet Apollo! This playful 2-year-old boy is the perfect four-legged companion. Super-affectionate and open to meeting other dogs, Apollo promises to put a smile on your face every single day. This young guy is a great hiking partner but will also happily hang out with you in the living room. He’s an all around best furry friend just looking for that loving human he can devote himself to.
