There’s another red, white, and blue celebration coming up, except it’s bleu, blanc, et rouge. Bastille Day! As with the revolution on our shores, it’s a celebration of the French saying “enough” to royalty. It’s on July 14. There are Bastille Day celebrations all over, including French Restaurant Week in NYC through July 20 – a great excuse to venture into the city for a delicious meal. It’s a weekend, then, for drinking French wine, and you can’t go wrong with that! From a decadent Sancerre from the Loire Valley to a light and frisky Beaujolais to a delightful Champagne, il y a beaucoup du choix! I have all of them on hand so that I can go in whatever direction my mood takes me. While I’m enjoying a wine and some French cheese and a baguette, I will watch the “Best of” from the 2024 Olympics in Paris on YouTube. Magnifique! Vive la France!
