Bomber Boosters Host Golf Tournament Fundraiser
The Pine Plains Bomber Boosters, a group of parents of student athletes at Stissing Mountain High School, are hosting their first annual Bomber Booster Golf Classic on Wednesday, June 19 at the Red Hook Golf Club.
The Boosters are a group that have been around for over thirty years and who work to produce an environment that inspires student athletes, coaches, parents, and the community to collectively create a positive and spirited atmosphere for all athletic programs. They also work to raise funds for scholarships, sports equipment, and team trips. The Boosters raise money by selling food and beverages at the concession stand during home games, but those funds only go so far.
All the funds raised from the golf tournament will go towards Stissing Mountain’s athletic department to help pay for scholarships and t-shirts for the graduating seniors, team training trips, and team banners for the gymnasium.
“There’s a lot of things that we want to do, but we have to have the fundraising and finances to follow through with it,” said Jen Macri, a parent and teacher in the district, and member of the Bomber Boosters. “This tournament would help a lot with that.”
Tickets for the golf tournament will include a golf cart, association greens fees, lunch, and dinner. At the tournament, there will be competitions for the longest drive, putting, and closest to the pin, as well as a raffle and awards. Individuals can purchase a ticket for $135 or a four-person team can be entered for $500.
Additionally, the Bomber Boosters are in need of members.
“Everyone is automatically a booster if you have a child in the district,” Jen said. “We know how busy everyone’s lives are and we appreciate anything you can do.”
Additionally, Jen and the Bomber Booster team extended their thanks to all of their sponsors, without whom it would be impossible to put on this fundraiser.
“We want everyone to understand how talented these kids are and that they need to be recognized for all of their hard work, and I’m hoping that the Boosters are doing that.”
Currently, the Bomber Boosters have room for five more teams in the tournament. If you’re interested in participating in the tournament, be sure to register by June 10 at this link. If you cannot make the tournament, but still would like to donate, visit this link.
