Oh no – it’s the end of August already!! It’s a time of change and juggling and trying to soak up the last of the summer. What wines work for this? Easy ones. Ones that you can pull from the fridge or the wine rack without having to think twice about them. Suggestions: For a white wine, go for Clean Slate Riesling. This Mosel Riesling is off dry and beautifully balanced, with notes of honeydew, pear, and a hint of lime that makes it the perfect wine to sip on its own and to pair with spicy foods and barbeque. For a red, reach for a wine that complements just about everything. It’s Pinot Project Pinot Noir. Made with fruit from vineyards in California’s coastal regions, this is a wine that’s lively but not overbearing in the glass. Wine Enthusiast describes it this way: “Beautiful, fresh fruit flavors light up this no-nonsense wine, delivering the varietal’s classic red and black cherries, along with light cinnamon nuances and a good, lightly tannic texture.” Both these wines are readily available and very affordable. Cheers! Enjoy this end-of-August weekend. See you in September.
