With the beautiful backdrop of Paris for the exciting Olympic games, I have to go with a French wine this week. I love seeing teams from around the world, and so I’m also going with a blend. Wines from the Côtes du Rhône are wines that shine thanks to the different grapes that go into them. One I really like is from the producer E. Guigal. Their Côtes du Rhône is a blend of 50% Syrah, 40% Grenache, and 10% Mouvedre. It pops with beautiful red fruit notes on the nose and palate, and is full-bodied, rich, and full of finesse. The Guigal family has been making great wine in the Southern Rhone for a long time, and the wine never disappoints. Bring on the baguettes, cheeses, and pates and settle in for some amazing Olympic viewing!
