Founded in 1871, Dutchess County SPCA is one of the oldest SPCAs in the country.  It is a no-kill shelter, and the only animal welfare organization in Dutchess County chartered to enforce humane law.  Dutchess County SPCA is not a governmental agency, nor is it affiliated with the ASPCA.  It is an independent charity, funded almost entirely by private donations.

Sherman

Introducing Sherman, a dashing 10-year-old cutie who weighs 70lbs. Sherman is sweet, goofy, fun, and loved by all who know him.
Fondly known as “the little hippo,” he’s a delightful furry friend seeking his dream home. This affectionate boy thrives on attention and isn’t shy to give plenty of slobbery kisses, making him an ideal fit for someone who can appreciate a shower of doggy love.
Sherman is a playful pooch who relishes his solo time with his toys, but he also enjoys snuggling with his trusted humans. Spending time outdoors and keeping his person company are some of his favorite activities.

Sherman has been waiting for a long time to go home. We don’t understand why since he’s such an adorable charmer. If you’re in search of a faithful furry companion to love and cherish, look no further than Sherman.
