The Hudson Valley is a great place to be if you’re a beer lover. The region is brimming with breweries, and in Tivoli, Lasting Joy Brewery just celebrated its second anniversary in June. 

But it wouldn’t be just a farm. No, Jamie and Madison wanted to create an agriturismo, which is an Italian concept that involves any agriculturally-based operation or activity that brings visitors to a farm or ranch. 

Since childhood, Kate Farrar has been surrounded by flowers. “I grew up growing flowers with my family and working in the gardens, and now I’ve returned to growing flowers again,” she said. 

Paley’s Farm Market in Sharon, CT is going into their 42nd year in business this season. Offering a variety of fresh produce in the market, hundreds of hanging baskets, planters, window boxes, and more in the greenhouse, and a vast selection of perennials, shrubs, and trees in the nursery, Paley’s has everything you need for your garden. 

Stonewood Farm, located off of Bangall Road in Millbrook, NY, is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that champions environmental stewardship, social justice, and community well-being in the Hudson Valley. 

Maitri Farm, set back a ways off of Amenia Union Road, may seem quiet and modest at first glance, but the farm is anything but. 

“Up to this point, I had a black thumb,” laughed Debra Kaye, owner of Bear Creek Farm in Stanfordville, NY. 

To maintain a viable future, it’s imperative that younger generations continue to become educated about agriculture and farming as well as learn how to be stewards of the land.

Daisey Hill Farm, a local family-run farm, is currently running a fundraiser to offset the loss in profits due to weather and inflation in the past few years.
