Going to War

By Published On: May 15th, 2024

Whelp furriends, it’s time to batten down the hatches, slick back your fur, and put on your helmets because we are going to war…against the spongy moth caterpillars. I had no idea they were going to be this bad this year. Consequently, I wasn’t nearly as purrpared as I should have been, so I grabbed the nearest helmet I could (Mom’s bra…only because I’m a little too big to share clothes with Ken) and hunkered down.

My poor kid sister got bitten more times than I can count on my toe beans furrom these nuisance bugs. After seeing how much they made her itch, I couldn’t take the chance now that it is (un)officially summer AKA window sitting season. As much as I love a good sit in the doorways or the windowsills, there’s nothing better than the fresh air flowing through my fur and the occasional sunbath beating in furrom the window. I simply do not want to risk those little caterpillars creeping up on me and taking bites out of my purrecious white fur.

To err on the side of caution of any spongy moth caterpillars sneaking through the screens, I’ve been spending more time on the couch. As you can see, however, I haven’t given up my armor (Mom’s bra) just yet. I still have to be at the ready in case they find their way inside the house. Paws crossed, I’m ovfurr-reacting!
