I’ll start this recommendation by saying I cried on four separate occasions during this movie…but please don’t let this scare you away! This film was incredibly heartfelt, incredibly well-executed, and incredibly enjoyable to watch. As a part of my Barbie/Oppenheimer double feature, I showed up to the theater decked out in hot pink and had a wonderful time. Between the fun music selections, the thoughtful aesthetic choices throughout, and the extremely touching scenes that brought me to tears, I quickly rated this movie five stars when walking out of the screening room.

I’m no professional film critic, and I won’t pretend to be, but I will observe that Greta Gerwig does a fantastic job communicating significant messages about womanhood to a general audience. I think a large part of the reason I cried is that these themes are dealt with in a way that evokes both comfort and sadness alike. It’s a surprisingly poignant watch, but I believe that’s what makes it so stunning. Don’t get me wrong—it is also full of the bright, hilarious, and action-packed scenes you would expect, making for a nice balance. Additionally, so many members of the star-studded cast truly shine in this film. I couldn’t recommend this movie enough, and I can’t wait to watch it again!
