April and the days are getting longer and warmer, and the grass is getting greener, and the April showers are bringing May flowers. Hooray! This weekend calls for a bright white to remind us that things are looking up. I’m going with a Gruner Veltliner from Weis Vineyards in the Finger Lakes. Named the 2022 New York State Winery of the Year, this is a wonderful example of the great wines being produced by Hans Peter and Ashlee Weis. Gruner Veltliner is the grape. It’s grown extensively in Austria. The Weis’s wine is bursting with notes of pear and green apple. It’s vibrant, smooth, and has a nice long finish. A great way to start the month.
