It gets dark so early now! What better excuse to cozy up to a bowl of hearty soup and a glass of equally soul-satisfying wine? My choice? A big red blend which, like a soup, brings together several ingredients to create a great taste. I’ve become a fan of Harvey & Harriet Red Blend. The winery is based in Paso Robles, a region noted for producing full-bodied and approachable red wines expressive of the longer growing season in that part of California. The wine is named after the founder’s parents (Harvey & Harriet), symbolizing love and togetherness. The blend features Cabernet Sauvignon, but also includes Syrah, Petit Sirah, Malbec, Grenache, Petit Verdot, and Mouvedre. The result is a sumptuous symphony of dark fruit notes, spice, and leather that, as the winery boasts, is “inspired by life’s magic.” I’m a believer.
