Daylight savings time ends this weekend. True, it’s “fall back,” so we gain an hour of sleep, but there’s nothing nice about how dark it gets so early. Well, maybe there’s something nice, after all. For me, it’s the feeling that I can kick back early. Dinner in the oven. Football game on TV. Fire in the fireplace. Time for a nice glass of wine. I had the J. Lohr Estates Los Osos Merlot for the first time with pot roast, and it was really, really good. Paso is known for its climate that produces a long growing and ripening season, bringing full flavor to the grapes grown there. This Merlot was super smooth and full of dark cherry, plum, and even some blackberry jam notes. Like the meal itself, it kept me wanting more. I think I’m going to stock up on this one. Happy November, everyone.
