Happy 4th of July! The forecast for the weekend is looking really good – perfect for a crisp, cold white wine. Since we’re celebrating our country, let’s keep it American, and let’s keep it local, too. Head over to Millbrook Winery for a great selection – and an always enchanting visit to their gorgeous estate. The winery is celebrating its 40th Anniversary in 2025. If you haven’t been lately, check it out and see why it was named the Hudson Valley’s Best Winery in 2024 (an award it often receives). They have Chardonnay and Pinot Grigio and other whites, but they also have an usual offering that I absolutely love – a Gruner Veltliner. This grape hails from Austria. It makes a wine that is super-crisp and brightly acidic, with notes of white pepper, lime, and lemon. There’s a lovely minerality on the finish. It’s perfect for any kind of picnic or porch party.
