This week is a whirlwind and calls for a wine that will smooth over the rough edges. Something that will also make you reflect and go deep. I therefore recommend The Prisoner Red Blend. It’s a big, juicy, wowza wine from Napa Valley. A blend of Zinfandel, Cabernet Sauvignon, Petite Sirah, Syrah, and a grape called Charbono, it’s all your favorite red wine grapes in a well-crafted glass – like finding presents under the tree. Big notes of raspberry and dark cherry and toast. There’s an interesting story in the wine, too. The label is inspired by an etching by the Spanish artist Francisco Goya, titled Le Petit Prisonnier, part of a series he did to protest the Spanish War of Independence in 1808. Choosing this image reflects the wine company’s belief that change can happen, and that it starts with conversation, collaboration, and creativity. Words to embrace at this time of year and always.
