Rhinebeck Mercantile, formerly Rhinebeck Department Store, is now open in Rhinebeck.
The original Hudson Valley Department Store was founded in 1946 and became the Rhinebeck Department Store in 1992, owned and run by Barbara and Dick Schreiber. The store stocks popular brands such as Pendleton, Habitat, Tribal, April Cornell, among many other country classics. They are known for combining fashion with comfort and good quality. Shoppers include local residents, tourists and even the occasional celebrity.
Today, Barbara and Dick Schreiber have passed their business on to Kenna Hawco and Lorrie Kruger, two dedicated and talented retail professionals. Kenna and Lorrie plan on continuing the successful practices of Rhinebeck Department Store while implementing their own unique ideas for moving the business forward as Rhinebeck Mercantile.
