Rob’s Records & Audio

If you share my experience of owning a record player, then you likely also share an insatiable need to collect new vinyl at any chance you get. When I was living in London for a few months this spring, I would come across an album I’d been wanting for ages, and excitedly set it aside while I continued perusing. Within the next few moments, though, reality would set in, and I’d soon visualize the record getting crunched and shattered in overpacked luggage, sandwiched between rolled up pairs of jeans, sliding back and forth in the chaos of JFK International Airport’s baggage claim. Thus, I held back each time, and told myself I would wait until I returned to the US before making any more vinyl purchases.

Upon arriving back home this summer, naturally seeking out a new record spot, I visited Rob’s Records & Audio at its new location at 286 Main Street in Great Barrington, MA. It’s safe to say that I was not disappointed! I was welcomed with music and a friendly, accessible atmosphere the moment I walked in. I took my time looking through the different sections, presenting vintage and new vinyl, and Rob was super nice; we chatted all about the vinyl I chose at checkout. The selection at Rob’s was just what I was looking for—I walked away happily with Jeff Buckley’s Grace tucked under my arm and a smile on my face. I plan on going back soon for more great vinyl picks!
