Summer went by supurr fast; I don’t know if I’m coming or going. I feel like the June calendar was just up and everyone was anxiously counting down the days to summer as my kid sister, Ellie finished second grade.

July kicked off with Ameowica turning 250. I tried counting that high, but even with help of Joey’s toe-beans, we didn’t have enough and kept losing track. Next up, Mom and Dad celebrated twenty years together and thirteen years married. I wish them many more years of love, happiness, and cats! Ellie had a jam-packed schedule with the Summer Spark program, camp, and working supurr hard on her reading skills. To accommodate, Mom has been leaving fur work later than usual and arriving home earlier than normal on most days. This has really messed up my cat napping schedule. I’m purractically greeting them at the door in the afternoons with one eye open. I’ve also been on life-guard duty furrom the inside of the house. Ellie’s really made ameowzing purrogress with her swimming skills. She’s jumping in the deep end all by herself now. She’s purractically a fish.

Dad had a brief opportunity in his work schedule to replace our roof and skylights. Good lord Jandice, the amount of beating and banging scared the poop out of me…quite literally. I got in big trouble for messing outside of the litter box. Ellie even used my middle name. That’s how I know she wasn’t kitten around and meant business. Anywho, that window of work turned into a fight with Mother Nature. The fam bam were forced to cut their beach vacation short and thank goodness they did. It was raining in the house in multiple spots. Don’t worry. Since then, the roof and new skylights have been installed and all is right in the world again.

In more recent news, Ellie turned eight. Mom and Dad allowed her to have a small pawty; cat themed of course. She got some pawsome gifts that came with teeny-tiny little pieces…the purrfect size for Joey and I to bat around too.

Next up on the summer agenda is school shopping. Ellie’s excited that she needs a binder this year fur the furrst time. I guess this officially makes her feel like a big kid? What grade were you in when you felt like a big kid? I’ll be sure to report back to Ellie what you all say.

Enjoy the rest of your summer!
