The slow narrowing of our daylight hours feels particularly ominous in light of current events

Thank goodness for WINE.
So, here we are in mid-July still with a few glorious summer days left to enjoy. Outdoor picnics are the best this time of year, when the produce is fresh and bountiful. Stock up at your farmer’s market, and don’t forget wine.
It’s a perfect time to drink more pink. This week I discovered the rose offering of a favorite producer of Sauvignon Blanc, Oyster Bay. Based in New Zealand, their wines are always crisp and clean and delicious. This one hit all the right notes for a rose, and it has a bit more oomph than some French roses (this after Bastille Day – it’s the guillotine for moi!).
It’s fabulous with a lobster roll, corn on the cob, and a monster salad.
And here’s a thought, it’s winter there now. Another reason to raise a (large) glass to summer!
