Grand Opening of The Claverack Free Library
Grand Opening of
The Claverack Free Library
Join us for the ribbon cutting of the new, enhanced Claverack Free Library and community center on Saturday, October 26, 2019, from noon until 4 p.m. There will be brief speeches, tours and autumnal refreshments to celebrate the opening of the new library in the former A.B. Shaw Firehouse at 629 Route 23B, Claverack.
After many years of careful planning and phased construction, the new Claverack Library is full of surprises and promises to be a vibrant destination in the heart of Columbia County. In addition to offering traditional lending and literacy services, as well as free programming, today’s libraries host an array of flexible spaces, spaces for people of all ages to gather, collaborate, create, learn, explore and grow.
This new facility will not only transform one of most valuable and visible institutions in the community, it will help shape the future of our town and surrounds for generations to come.
The board of trustees and library staff are grateful for the generous support of more than 700 of our neighbors, area businesses, and private charitable foundations. Thanks to this community commitment – and construction grants from New York State’s Division of Library Development, the Economic Development Program, and the State and Municipal Facilities Program – the capital campaign has raised more than $2.6 million, without incurring debt.
Please plan to join us for this historic event in Claverack. It’s just the beginning.
