Mobile Prostate Cancer Screening Event May 14th, 2022

My name is Luis Abramson founder of (CHJI) Cultivating Healing & Justice Initiative Support Services Inc. I would like to extend an invitation to the entire Hudson Valley community to join us in Otisville, for a dynamic community awareness event highlighted with the Mount Sinai, Robert F. Smith Prostate Cancer Screening Mobile Unit. This is the only machine of its kind on this Eastern Seaboard. Yes, Prostate Cancer screening to be available on site for the first time in selected Otisville.

Mr. Lance Davoren, Otisville Village Trustee and I, collaborated to bring a community vision alive. Together we ignited this venture further, by advocating for unheard Prostate Cancer victims and survivor voices. There is a need to emphasize the need for this lifesaving screening. I am a retired first responder and a Prostate Cancer survivor who knows and understands the experience.  (“To pee or not to pee”) often quoted, will often be heard coming from the mouth of Prostate Cancer patients and this is not a pun on words, nor is this phrase music to a survivor’s ears!

We are happy that Mount Sinai Hospital is sending out this one-of-a-kind, state-of-the-art imaging equipment sponsored by the prominent philanthropist, Robert F. Smith. This Mobile Unit will be accompanied and operated by specialized Mount Sinai staff and world-renowned physicians. We are looking for the community to get involved as we present our Prostate Cancer Awareness Walk in Otisville, N.Y., this coming May 14th, 2022, to be held at the Veterans Memorial Park 23-79 Main St. Otisville, N.Y. 10963. We are very excited to be the only Prostate Cancer Awareness Organization in the entire Hudson Valley Region to have this amazing Mobile Unit collaborating with us and we hope that the males take advantage of getting screened and at the same time, come and raise awareness with family and friends to support families with a loved one experiencing Prostate Cancer at this moment. We also walk to remember those taken from us and for those who survived the disease.

Prostate cancer is a morbidity that impacts tens of thousands annually of which, includes our veterans, first responders, underserved minorities, the intellectual/developmentally disabled individuals, and men from all walks of life. The more prepared our communities are, the better we will be able to support individuals impacted by this disease. As a survivor among survivors, I know that after detection, effective medical care is vital to prevent and decrease the mortality rates statistically.

Together, we can make a difference and we hope to see you in Otisville. Thank you in advance for your support. This event is a pet friendly event.

*Registration begins at 9am, and the Walk starts at 10am. There will be food, music, vendors, guest speakers, the Hudson Valley Ghostbusters, The Hudson Valley Renegades Mascot, Fei Tian College Middletown Dance Department, Wall Radio, Revolucion Radio and many more surprises.
