FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

FEBRUARY 22 – A DAY TO SUPPORT NEW YORK FFA

Croghan, New York, February 16, 2024 – Join FFA supporters nationwide by contributing to the Give FFA Day Campaign on February 22, 2024.

In conjunction with National FFA Week, the National FFA Organization will host its ninth 24-hour campaign to raise awareness and support for FFA. The importance of this initiative is in directing gifts to the donor’s FFA state of choice, thereby providing funding to support FFA members. To make a gift to NY FFA on February 22, visit www.FFA.org/GiveFFADay and select New York State.

With New York FFA membership now exceeding 11,500, funding needs have never been greater. Give FFA Day provides the NY FFA with the opportunity to raise funds in collaboration with other state associations across the nation. “On Give FFA Day, every FFA association and foundation in the country stands united, proclaiming: ‘If you believe in the power of FFA, if you were an FFA member, if you value FFA norms and traditions, then make a gift today to celebrate FFA nationwide,'” said Todd Lighthall, Executive Director of the New York FFA Leadership Training Foundation.

The 2024 campaign is on pace to be the NY FFA Foundation’s largest annual fundraising effort. Five donors have pledged $40,000 in matching funds for the New York Give FFA Day campaign. They all recognize the potential of Give FFA Day to raise significant funds. Through their matching gifts, they aim to amplify contributions. The New York FFA Foundation expresses gratitude to our matching donors: second-time matcher Sam Shapiro, Art Berkey, Daryle and Sharon Foster, Spencer and Judy Gridley, and Lowell Sanders.

Daryle and Sharon Foster’s $10,000 matching gift was generously given to encourage FFA members and chapters to participate and secure gifts. Additionally, $2,000 in prize money has been contributed to encourage
and recognize the chapters that excel in their Give FFA Day efforts. The intent is that FFA chapters will ultimately integrate this initiative into their annual plans, as each dollar they raise essentially returns to them.

New York successfully launched its first major Give FFA Day campaign in 2023 and witnessed the power of networking through a social media campaign. Facebook and Instagram provided platforms to establish new connections among alumni and reach a broader audience of supporters.

Make a gift to NY FFA on February 22, by visiting www.FFA.org/GiveFFADay and select New York State. Checks can be mailed to the NY FFA Foundation, 9340 Long Pond Rd, Croghan, NY 13327. Todd shares, “It’s not the size of the gift that matters;

it’s the act of giving. That act says to every current FFA member: I am still showing up for FFA and the future of agriculture in my state. I hope you will.”
