I hope everyone had a wonderful 4th of July. Poolside is the place to be this time of year, and a crisp, cold white is the perfect accompaniment. There are so many fabulous Sauvignon Blancs from New Zealand on the shelves of any wine store, and they’re popular because they have a lovely “pop” to them. A refreshing grapefruit-y note that just hits the spot. One of my favorites? Kono. Everything about this wine says “clean” to me, from the color of the bottle to the label, and it’s as good inside as out. The wine is bright and fresh, with the classic citrus notes that are so yummy in Marlborough SauvBlancs, but also some white peach. I’d better pour myself another glass and savor it some more. Oh, and pass the chicken salad.
