Founded in 1871, Dutchess County SPCA is one of the oldest SPCAs in the country.  It is a no-kill shelter, and the only animal welfare organization in Dutchess County chartered to enforce humane law.  Dutchess County SPCA is not a governmental agency, nor is it affiliated with the ASPCA.  It is an independent charity, funded almost entirely by private donations.

Lucas

Meet Lucas!

Lucas is a charming and dapper 4-year-old tuxedo cat who has been through a lot. He was surrendered to the shelter due to housing issues, and he is now looking for his dream home with a loving human or family. Lucas may be a bit shy at first, but once he warms up to you, he becomes an absolute love bug. Treats and catnip are the easiest way to his heart. He loves greeting the humans he knows best with chirps in the morning, and nuzzling to show his love.

Lucas is a playful cat who loves the company of other cats. He would be happiest in a home where any children are over 5 years old.
