We made a lot of different kinds of sangria over the years at the Hudson-Chatham Winery Sangria Festival.
Year after year, THE most popular selection was one of the sweeter sangrias, a Strawberry Lemonade Blush sangria. It was also hugely popular for bridal showers. Now you too can discover why you and your guests will be begging for more.
I strongly suggest you make a double batch. You’ll need 2 bottles of blush wine (we used our Ghent Blush, which was made from Catawba grapes). Blush is a sweet pink wine, whereas rose is typically a dry pink wine.
Pour the wine into a pitcher.
Add two 12-ounce containers of frozen lemonade (yellow or pink), plus 24 ounces of water.
Stir until the lemonade is dissolved.
Add fresh or frozen strawberries – or a combination – putting in about 2 cups of berries.
Gently stir and refrigerate the sangria for about an hour.
Pour into cups filled with ice, ladling fruit into the glasses.
Serve with a fun straw. So tasty!
Another delicious sangria made with sweet wine is with very popular Moscado.
Put two bottles of that into a pitcher, and stir in 2 cups of mixed berries.
Add a single shot of vodka (use a fruit-flavored vodka if desired).
Refrigerate for about an hour, and serve in cups filled with ice, ladling fruit into the glass, and top the drink with a nice splash of seltzer. These are very fun, fruity sangrias that are perfect for pool parties (small ones this year!).
