If you’re stressed about finishing up your taxes, here’s a bottle of wine you can relate to: The Prisoner. There are several variations of this wine – a Cabernet Sauvignon, a Pinot Noir, and, my choice for this hodge-podgey kind of week, a red blend. The blend includes Zinfandel along with Cab, Petite Sirah, Syrah, and a grape called Charbono, which contributes deep color, plum notes, and high acidity, which contribute to the bottle’s ability to age beautifully. The combo is one that jumps out of the glass and doesn’t let you go. Ripe raspberry, vanilla, and coconut are on the nose, with blackberry, pomegranate and more soft vanilla on the palate. It has a spellbindingly long and luscious finish. It’s not inexpensive, but it’s worth it for whatever ails you. After all, if we’re going to be prisoners, we might as well enjoy a Prisoner. Cheers and good luck! Where are those May flowers when you need them?!
