I hope everyone had a lovely Valentine’s Day with a wine that suited the occasion. My post-Valentine’s question is always, Why not make more days this special? A meal that you take time to enjoy accompanied by a nice wine and a candle or two is all you need. A wine of choice for me for this simple yet necessary time is one from the land of love and romance, France. I’m in love these days with the Ventoux from Le Fleury, a Rhone Valley red that’s a delectable blend of 60% Syrah, 30% Grenache, and 10% other varietals grown in the sunny south of France. It’s full-bodied, ripe, and fresh on the palate, with hints of red berry fruit and lingering spice. Enjoy it with just about anything from pizza to pork chops to soups, stews, and starry eyed date nights.
