We be jammin’ at the Jam Food Shop

By Published On: March 23rd, 2020

We here at Main Street have known the fine folks over at Jam Food Shop in Sharon, CT, for a number of years now and we certainly have our favorite dishes there. Although Jam is located within the Sharon Market, Jam is its own experience!

For those of you who are familiar with Jam, you might know it as the place to pick up a sandwich (whether it be a breakfast or lunch sandwich), some great sides, or their grab-n-go meals. The Sharon Market does have a few tables where one can sit and eat, but due to the current state of global affairs, Jam is really quite ideal! You can go in and get some of your grocery shopping done – or not and just go to Jam’s counter – and when you get to Jam’s area have quite the assortment to choose from. But remember: keep at least 6 feet distance from the other shoppers while there.

Jam’s grab-n-go cooler is usually chock full of quiches, salads, soups, meatloaf, and whole meals. Or if you go to the counter, prepare to lose yourself a little. They of course have things like chicken and tuna salads, orzo and kale salad, but they also have burritos and salmon (but options may vary depending on the day and availability). So stock up with some great goodies before you head back home into further isolation and quarantine, but at least after you go to Jam you’ll be sure to have plenty of great treats to keep yourself happy and fed for quite some time!

I’ll add that I’ve obviously had plenty of their lunch sandwiches, which are always so fresh and enjoyable. Our favorite in our office is their orzo salad. But I want to especially note and Lee (Jam’s owner) was so incredibly kind to send a care package to my house after I gave birth to my daughter three years ago. Lee hooked us up with over a week’s worth of prepared meals, and each one was more delicious than the one before. But I share this kindness specifically because after having a C-section and being sleep-deprived and just wanting to be home and soaking up every moment with my first-born, having ready-meals that I knew were delicious and nutritious and super easy to heat up, it was just one less thing to worry about. Today we find ourselves home-bound, but for a very different reason than I was in three years ago, but we could all use some comfort foods, foods that are both tasty and nutritious, and having them at-the-ready will cause one less thing for us to have to worry about. And in today’s new normal, less worry is a good thing!

So stay healthy, stay fed, and shop local! Support your local businesses and help them survive this time, too.
