Wine on St. Patrick’s Day? Buck the beer and whisky and go grape! Which doesn’t mean you can’t drink wine with a nod to the Irish. My choice? Believe it or not, it’s Wild Irish Rose. This is a fortified wine at 17% alcohol by volume (think Port or Sherry), but it has a lovely and lively fruity note that is true to its Concord grape profile. It’s one of the first branded wines in America, and it’s been in production for over 50 years! Serve it chilled and neat, or put it over ice and top with seltzer.
Slainte!
