My journey with disc golf began last month, but the sport has been on my mind for years. I have the UDisc course locator app on my phone and a starter set of discs, but they were just collecting dust – until a chance encounter at the Salisbury-Sharon Transfer Station.
Bruce Knickerbocker, a Pine Plains, NY, resident, will be competing in the Lake Placid Ironman race in July. He’s currently raising money to support cancer care on a local level throughout his training leading up to the race.

Over time, he was drawn more to track and field. “All of the different aspects of it – the running, jumping, and throwing – just had me hooked,” he said. “Track seemed to be the ultimate test of pushing boundaries and I continued to fall more in love with it.”
