This year, I managed to snag tickets to see Loverboy and Sammy Hagar perform at Saratoga Performing Arts Center. Despite the soggy weather, I was in incredibly good spirits. Why, might you ask? Because I was heading to see my favorite band live for the first time. I have loved the Foo Fighters since I was 16 years old. I remember preferring to jam my headphones in my ears during my free periods in high school and tearing through the Foos’ entire discography on Spotify instead of speaking to my friends. (This only lasted for a week and they quickly forgave me).
The idea for Bear Butter all started with creator Jon Vella’s acai bowl and smoothie shop, The Spot, in Pittsfield, MA. He opened the juice and smoothie bar, located on Tyler Street, in 2018, and while trying to grow The Spot’s brand, Jon found himself eating a lot of protein balls from a coffee shop nearby.
Zach Bryan has always taken inspiration from those around him and worn his heart on his sleeve when it comes to his music. The Great American Bar Scene is no different. The album is less about the bar scene and more about the connection between people, particularly those that would be shared in conversation at bars.
