Wine of the Week(end) with fruit!

Have you been to a farmer’s market recently? The fruits and vegetables are abundant and so delicious! Blueberries, raspberries, peaches, nectarines, watermelon, and almost any other fruits are beautiful and healthy additions to a glass of wine. Here’s one way I like to do it. Cut fresh strawberries into bite-sized pieces. Using wooden skewers, make […]

DiamAndes Perlita Rosado

E-gads is it really Thursday afternoon?? I was so far ahead last week that I forgot about this week. Well, here goes.

With sunshine predicted for the full weekend, there’s no excuse not to get outside and soak up the sun – and then cool down in the evening with a great glass of wine. It […]

Twisted Love

What a weird summer so far! The perfect wine for Summer 2023 is Sabba Vineyard’s CabFranc, Twisted Love. I mean, the weather has been totally twisted – one day roasting the next pouring. Twisted Love wine, however, goes with whatever direction you’re flowing, and does it with panache and a full palate. Sabba Vineyard is […]

Kono

I hope everyone had a wonderful 4th of July. Poolside is the place to be this time of year, and a crisp, cold white is the perfect accompaniment. There are so many fabulous Sauvignon Blancs from New Zealand on the shelves of any wine store, and they’re popular because they have a lovely “pop” to […]

The Federalist Cabernet Sauvignon

Here comes July!! To help celebrate our nation’s birthday on the 4th, I have to go with this Cabernet Sauvignon from California: The Federalist. The winery claims the wines are “made like America: bold.” This Cab is indeed bold, with big black cherry and cassis notes and firm yet supple tannins. I love the label, […]

Cranberry Bog

This Saturday is June 24. Fast forward six months and it’ll be December 24. Yikes! Only six months to Christmas Eve! Whether that thought fills you with excitement or dread, there’s a wine for that. It’s from Montezuma Winery in the Finger Lakes, and it’s one of their most popular offerings. It’s called Cranberry Bog, […]

1000 Stories Bourbon Barrel Aged Zinfandel

It’s Father’s Day on Sunday, and in thinking about a wine worthy of the celebration, an obvious choice occurred to me: 1000 Stories Bourbon Barrel Aged Zinfandel. First, there’s the name. 1000 Stories. Think about all the stories you have about your dad, or stories you want to share with the dads in your life, […]

Bird Bath Wine

If you haven’t been, I highly recommend a visit to Rose Hill Farm in Dutchess County. It’s just off Route 9 in Red Hook. The team there has created something really special – Rose Hill is a working farm with an expansive list of hand-crafted libations featuring its fruits and offered in a taproom […]
