Whispering Angels

If you could use some angels in your life, here’s some inspiration:

A delightful French rose wine called Whispering Angels.

There’s everything to love about this wine. It’s from Aix en Provence, as sunny and beautiful a spot as there is on the planet. It’s a gorgeous pink color that makes you happy just to look at […]

A Little Pick-Me-Up

Moods? Yeah, we’ve all got them.

There’s this pandemic that’s making everything weirder than weird, and there’s the spring weather – one day glorious and uplifting, the next damp and gray and gloomy.

And a full moon to boot.

A couple of recommendations for wines this week? How about some that are HIGH IN ALCOHOL!! For that we […]

Dry Whites for Spring

Despite the daily dose of uncertainty and anxiety around life as we used to know it, spring is springing. The grass is getting greener by the hour, it seems. Forsythia and daffodils are blooming. The days are blessedly longer and the temperatures are slowly but steadily rising.

Thank goodness for Mother Nature.

When this happens, people’s tastes […]

Time to be Transported

In Chile, on the other side of the equator, it’s now fall. Harvest season. Far, far away from Upstate New York, where on top of everything else going on there were a couple of inches of snow this week.

Sure, the grass is getting greener, and buds are peeking out everywhere, but it’s still very early […]

Keep it Local

When the ever-upbeat editor and content provider Griffin Cooper asked this week if I had suggestions of wine to pair with impending doom, I wanted to laugh and cry. That’s how it feels. I know that liquor stores, like grocery stores, are doing booming business, and thank goodness, as they are small, local businesses, […]

If You Can’t Go There, Enjoy It Here

It’s unimaginable that the whole country of Italy is on a COVID19 lock-down. It breaks my heart.

We’re so lucky to have lots of Italian wines available to us in our good old United States of America. One that I enjoyed recently is a fabulous organic Moscato d’Asti from Bera. When I think of Asti I […]

The Phoenician

I love choosing wines. But I also love going to events where the wines are pre-selected, and the choices aren’t huge. It forces you to pay attention to what’s really in the bottle. I found myself at such an event last night, and I couldn’t […]

Bring on Spring with a Great Rose

A friend and I were planning a dinner. I was bringing a spinach lasagna. He was choosing the wine. I thought for sure he’d suggest a red. After all, it was mid February, dark by 6:15 pm, cold outside – and he typically drinks red. It was the obvious (and maybe ideal) pairing with the lasagna. But […]

Valen-wines

The playwright Euripides, who died in 406 BC, is quoted as saying, “Where there is no wine, there is no love.” With Valentine’s Day kicking off a long weekend this year – at a time when it seems we need love more than ever – it’s good to know there are wines that pair perfectly […]

New Year’s Eve is behind us, and 2020 is here. Don’t let the celebrations draw to a close too quickly. Remember that bubbles do make everything better – the more the merrier! Here’s a fun and affordable bottle that’s not only delicious, but has an equally delightful history. This Brut Rose Cava, a blend of […]
