WE WOULD LIKE YOU TO MEET OTIS JOE, A CAT LIKE NO OTHER

OTIS JOE & ASHLEY JO

Our director of advertising Ashley Kristjansson is a self proclaimed crazy cat lady … with only one cat. Luckily for Ashley, and now the entire world, that one feline is a world class nap taker, the gold standard of grumpiness, and God’s gift to Instagram. Everyday, tens of hundreds of people are inspired by the one and only Otis Joe to cuddle, mooch, and snack on turkey deli meat to their heart’s content. Otis is a soon to be ten year old house kitty, his lineage is unknown-like most comic book heroes-but mom Ashley believes he is part Turkish Van, perhaps explaining his love for the aforementioned sandwich meat. “I love him as though he were my furrrst born, I am his familiar if you will, unfortunately, my husband is his favorite person-reluctantly I might add-but I will continue to fight for his undying love and attention.” His life has been full of ups and downs, from his early experiences with the outside world to the comfort of his cat stroller, as well as his long battle with “cat acne” Otis has etched his name into the annuals of cat history. Now, for the first time ever, the legendarily lazy feline will allow our cameras into his everyday life. Main Street Magazine and its readers have been granted one of a kind access to the King of Catnaps and all of his furbaby adventures, won’t you join us? What do you say Otis?

THE OTIS FEED: A DAY IN THE LIFE OF

Pawliday Stress

I’m sure you’re like me, when we were younger the holidays were a lot less stressful. Now it seems, this time of the year means expansive to-do lists, and hoards of humans descending on my house to take up space on my favorite spots on the couch. All of this commotion is no good for my scaredy-cat nerves, my R&R time, and most importantly, my skin care routine. For years I’ve struggled with cat-acne causing unpleasant trips to the vet, and an embarrassing amount of […]

The Purrrrfect Birthday Gift

This may be a little known fact to most, but today is my Mom’s purrrrthday. And although she is struggling with the idea of turning 30, I would like to remind her that, in cat years, I’m trudging through my mid-50s. Lest she forget in her old age, ten years ago, I was the best birthday present she has ever received. Over the last decade, I’ve endured her smothering me with kisses, her DEAFENING cat-mom voice, and more than my personal preference of trips to […]

Daylight Savings Time

Despite all of the hoop-lah surrounding Daylight Savings Time for you humans, my catnapping schedule has impurroved immensely. With all of my extra R&R time it’s hard to resist the urge to wake up my favurrite human of all, my dad between 4:30-5:00AM every morning for my half can of wet food, AKA, my breakfast. My dad doesn’t appurreciate this, but its not my fault you humans change your clocks twice a year furr no purrticular reason – and besides, I make a purretty good […]

Everyday Should be National Cat Day

Yesterday, October 29th, was National Cat Day. But why do us felines only have one day a year that we are honored? In the words of Michelle Tanner, “how rude!” I furr one bust my tail to be the king of my castle. Not a day goes by that I don’t show my love furr my humans. I always keep a spot on the couch warm for someone to then steal, happily eat the chicken my sister drops on the floor, consistently greet the humans […]
