Hopkins Vineyard Duet

It’s prime apple-picking, pumpkin patch, fall festival time, with farms all around us offering hay rides, cider donuts, and all things fall. A wine to enhance this enjoyment? Something locally grown, locally made, locally offered, and downright delicious. You’ll find all this at Hopkins Vineyard in Warren, Connecticut. The first vines were planted on […]

Moet & Chandon Rose Imperial

So long, September! You gave us some spectacular days. I’ll raise a toast with a rose sparkling wine so I can enjoy both the deliciousness of the wine and the color of it in the glass, which is so much like the pink hues of dawn and dusk. Since it’s a salute to the […]

Whitecliff Winery Vidal Blanc

We wine lovers can be glad that all things pumpkin spiced haven’t found their way into our beverage of choice – yet! Apple, on the other hand, is a common flavor note in wine that is thoroughly delightful. A grape that grows well in the Hudson Valley and that has lovely notes of golden apple […]

Dr. Konstantin Frank Riesling

Sunshine and blue skies! Let’s linger in summer with a chilled white wine. A semi-dry Riesling is wonderful this time of year. The Klocke Estate: Magnificent & Magical

I had the pleasure of meeting John Frishkopf and Brett Mattingly, partners in life and business, in 2016 in their early days of exploring the Hudson Valley for a suitable location to start a bona fide brandy distillery. John visited the Hudson-Chatham Winery in Ghent, NY, where we had lots of Baco Noir grapes in […]

Conundrum Wines

Is it summer? Is it fall? Is it time to get out the sweaters and put away the white pants and shorts? What a conundrum. Hey, there’s a wine for that. A really good one. Actually, two of them, both really good. If you’re feeling the this-way or that-way of this time of year, pour […]

Mirabeau’s Forever Summer Rose

I know several people who are headed off to vacation next week, another reminder that summer is coming to an end. Summer is my favorite season, so to keep those vibes going, I’m turning to a bottle of Mirabeau’s Forever Summer Rose. This wine is a winner in so many ways – first, that it […]
