About Thorunn Kristjansdottir

Thorunn Kristjansdottir is the principal, editor, publisher and designer of Main Street Magazine. She founded the magazine in January of 2013, because she found a niche: there wasn’t any magazine specifically for this area. Yes, there were numerous magazines that covered the area, but they also covered everything from Poughkeepsie to Vermont. Thorunn thought that there was a need for a magazine for just this area, featuring stories about the people, businesses, and curiosities that are to be found in this corner of the world. Having done this before (she was the co-creator, editor and publisher of another similar magazine), she went to work to create Main Street Magazine for Millerton and it’s surrounding area in late 2012. A magazine that is high-end in every aspect, from the content, writing and articles to the photographs and advertisements, from the layout to the printing. She strives for perfection at each step of the way.

Yeast-baking, Take #2

Well, it’s been a few days since my first yeast-based bread attempt – and ultimate fail. Mommying Among Madness

This is a crazy time to be alive, let alone being a parent and dealing with this pandemic. One of the things that comes with being a parent is worrying about your child’s well-being, and when the world has been overtaken with a pandemic, you worry even more.

But I’m not turning this into yet another […]

Week 9 and 10: COVID-19

Our world and lives have changed dramatically in the time span of just a few weeks. And we are now ALL thinking of our health and well being in a very serious way. And for most of us, whether we like it or not, this virus has overtaken our lives in many ways: it’s all […]

Sharing is NOT caring.

We find ourselves with at least a good month left of winter. Once we get past St. Patty’s Day, winter is over – or at least it should just throw in the towel at that point in my opinion. And that goes for all of the winter bugs, too! By that third week in March […]
